Philosophy and Comedy

We were delighted to welcome a star of stage and screen to STS on Thursday 30^th March in the form of the comedian Alexis Dubus. This opportunity arose through our outreach work lead by Professor Simon Kirchin from Kent University.

Simon and Alexis lead the Year 12 Philosophy students through an afternoon reflecting on the nature, purpose and value of comedy and explored ethical considerations such as where the limits of free speech should lie within comedy. Finally, the students had the opportunity to draft and present some of their own material.

This was a unique, stimulating and highly valuable opportunity for our philosophy students and we are very grateful to Simon and Alexis for their time and encouragement.
