A-Level Results Day

We are delighted with the academic progress made by our Level 3 students. In both A Level and Applied qualifications, students have exceeded expectations and performed extremely well.

100% of the cohort gained a place at the university they placed as firm choice. This is the first time this has ever been achieved at STS. Many of the students have been offered places at Russell Group universities. The results were achieved across a range of highly academic A Levels subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, English, Maths, History, Geography and Sociology.  Results in Creative subjects were of particular note, with students awarded grades that are significantly above the national average. This will be of no surprise to anyone who viewed students’ work at the recent CREATE 26 exhibitions.

Students’ results were hugely improved in Applied (Vocational) subjects with some exceptional results in Computing.  

Individual students who have done particularly well include the following:

Ben Comerford, Head student was offered a place at Durham to study Computer Science. He achieved a grade B in Maths, Distinction* in Computing and Distinction in Business. Ben has since chosen to specialise in Computer Science at Royal Holloway College, University of London where he will focus on the study of Artificial Intelligence.

Jaimeleigh McPhee excelled in the Arts (achieving a B grade in each of Textiles, Art and Photography) and is taking a gap year before studying Fine Art at the University for the Creative Arts.

Jemima Parker achieved a Distinction* in Health and Social Care, a B in Psychology and a C in History and will study Psychology at Kent University.

Amelia Betts made exceptional academic progress and achieved two Bs and a C in her A Levels and will be studying Level 4 Foundation Art and Design at EKC Canterbury.

Mia Gemmell was offered places at Exeter and Bristol to study Politics and has chosen to study Politics and International Relations (Including a year working overseas) at the University of Essex.

David Batchelor will study Pharmacology at Portsmouth University after achieving 3 A levels including a C in Chemistry.

Morgan Wysocka achieved three A Levels including B grades in both Sociology and Psychology and will study Psychology alongside Criminology with a year in Industry at Royal Holloway University.

Karina Sobolewska has been offered a place at Southampton University to study Criminology.

Joe Finch will study Film, TV and Digital Production at Royal Holloway University.

Amy Sharp will study Actuarial Science at the University of Kent ahead of a potential career in investment banking and risk management. 

The school is very proud of the students for achieving these results. It is a result of their hard work, attention to detail and ambition. We would also like to thank the parents for their support and hard work behind the scenes encouraging their children. Thank you also to the teachers who have inspired the students to achieve these results.

In addition, the students in Year 13 will be remembered as people of good character who were highly involved in community projects both within school and in the wider community. They worked hard to support the new STS house system and raise funds for good causes. We look forward to hearing of their future achievements.
