Religious Studies
Title of the qualification achieved at the end of the course
GCSE Religious Studies (AQA)
What will you learn/How will you be taught?
Our course will be focusing on the way that Judaism and Christianity have shaped the world and how Jews, Christians, and those of a different faith, and those of no faith at all shape the world. The Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all interlinking faiths – all sharing one God – however, all three worship Yahweh (the Hebrew, language of the Jews, name), God, Allah (the Arabic, language of Islam, name) in very different ways.
This course will look at the Jewish and Christian interpretations about God, and we will compare and contrast how Jews and Christians view the world.
You will be challenged with questions about belief, values, meaning, purpose, and truth, which will lead you to develop your own values and beliefs around both religious and non-religious issues.
You will also gain an appreciation of how religion, philosophy and ethics form the basis of our culture. You will develop analytical and critical thinking skills, the ability to work with abstract ideas, leadership, and research skills – all of which will prepare you for future study whether that’s A levels or at college.
